Dylan’s eyebrows lifted slightly. “Is that what we’re calling this?”

“It can’t be anything more than that. Your life is in New York and mine is here. I don’t see that changing anytime soon, and I don’t see a way to make anything serious work long-term.”

“Brooke.” He lifted his hand to push a strand of hair out of her face. “I’m enjoying being with you. Can’t we just leave it at that and have a good time together while I’m here?”

“Just so long as we both agree up front that this can’t be anything permanent or serious. I’m not interested in being a long-distance girlfriend.”

His hand curled around the back of her neck, pulling her in for a kiss. “Noted,” he murmured against her lips.

Relief poured through her in a rush. She’d been afraid they wouldn’t see eye to eye, but if Dylan was on board with the friends-with-benefits thing, this could actually be great. It was just sex, right? Their friendship was strong enough to survive this.

She kissed him again before pushing herself off the bed. “I’m gonna brush my teeth. I’ll be back in a minute.” Instinctively, her arms crossed over her chest as the sheet slipped down.

“Why are you trying to cover up?” he teased. “After everything we just did to each other, don’t tell me you’re suddenly shy.”

She yanked a handful of blanket out from under him and pulled it up over her breasts. “I’m not used to being looked at when I’m naked. I don’t know how you can stand to have people staring at your body all the time.”

Dylan rolled over, trapping the blanket she was trying to steal underneath his legs. “It’s just work. You get accustomed to it and realize it’s no big deal.”

“Don’t act like you’re above modesty. You definitely did some blushing when I saw you naked the other morning.” Brooke gave the blanket a tug, but it wouldn’t budge with his weight on top of it.

“Well, yeah, because I didn’t want you to see how turned on I was.”

She quit trying to wrestle the blanket away from him. “Were you?”

“Yeah. Turned on and embarrassed at the same time.”

He was too adorable. Especially now, with his hair all sex-mussed and his lips pink and swollen. She leaned forward and kissed him on the mouth, enjoying the fact that she could do it freely and without guilt. “You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Believe me. Nothing.”

He hummed against her lips. “If you want to brush your teeth, you better get out of this bed right now before I roll you over and have my way with you again.”

Brooke wriggled out of his grasp. “Hold that thought.”

“I’m looking at you naked!” He shouted after her as she ran into the bathroom.

Laughing, she shut the door behind her. After she’d peed and brushed her teeth, she grabbed a robe off the back of the bathroom door and went into the kitchen to give Murderface his dinner. He was waiting beside his food bowl, glaring his disapproval at her for making his dinner late. “Sorry, dude,” she said as she measured out his food. “I had pressing business that needed taking care of.”

When she got back to the bedroom, Dylan was just getting into bed after brushing his own teeth. She paused in the doorway to admire his naked form as he slid between the sheets.

His mouth quirked in a smile when he noticed her. “Planning on joining me?”

“Just admiring the view.”

He cocked a disapproving eyebrow. “You’re not naked anymore.”

“I had to feed the cat and didn’t want to give the neighbors a show.”

He crooked a finger at her. “Come here.”

Something in her belly tightened in response. “I like it when you’re bossy.”

“Then take off that robe.”

She did as instructed, leaving it in a pile on the floor as she moved toward the bed.

He reached for her as she crawled into his arms. His fingers traced the curve of her hip, raising goose bumps on her skin. “You’re so beautiful.”

“No need to flatter me.” She pressed a kiss into his jaw just below his ear. She loved being in his arms. Somehow it felt both completely new and completely familiar. The best of both worlds. “You’ve already lured me into bed.”
