“You’ve got to be fucking joking right now,” Aurora says as she walks through her living room.
“You need to make a police report,” I say.
“No. They’ll actually murder me if I call the cops on them,” she says.
“And what if it’s not actually who you think it is?” I ask.
“He’s right. This is a shit neighborhood,” Kaia says.
“I wish the rent said it was a shit neighborhood,” she grumbles. “Fine. I’m not saying shit though. I’m traumatized, not brain-damaged. Enzo will fucking kill me if he thinks I’m calling the cops on him.”
“You can’t just live your life in fear of him, Rora,” Kaia says softly.
“Oh, yeah?” Aurora asks. “Watch me. If pretending it didn’t happen and moving on keeps me alive, I’ll do it.”
“I’ll call,” Luca says and she nods.
“See if anything is missing, but pack a bag while you do it,” I say.
“I’ll help,” Kaia tells her. I stay in the living room with Milo in case he decides to show up unexpectedly.
“Her brother is a fucking psycho,” Milo says quietly.
“No kidding,” I say.
“When are you,” he starts to say but Aurora’s yelling cuts him off.
“What the fuck?!” Aurora yells.
“Chill out. I’m sure they’re here,” Kaia says. “There is shit everywhere.”
“What’s wrong?” I ask when I walk into the bedroom.
“She thinks that all of her panties are gone,” Kaia sighs. “Why would he take them?”
“Why would he rape his sister?” she retorts.
“That’s a good point,” Luca says. “The cops are on their way.”
“What did you tell them?” she asks.
“Everything, obviously,” Luca says with a grin. He laughs when Aurora rolls her eyes at him. “I just told them that you got home and the place was trashed.”
“Thanks,” she sighs.
“Who the fuck steals panties?” Kaia asks.
“A psycho,” Milo says.
“This is why I never fucking said anything. He’s never going to leave me alone,” Aurora says as she starts to get angry.
“We can go by the store and get you more,” Kaia says calmly.
“With what fucking money, Kaia?” Aurora asks. “I never cashed out at Vita and I can’t use my bank.”
“Why can’t you use your bank?” she asks.
“Just forget it,” she says dismissively.
