A month? That was—
Sarah tried to concentrate on what Blaze was saying and how her own voice echoed it, but the ropes forced her against the chair, and the knots rolled over the tips of her breasts every time she breathed.
On the speakers, Abigail said, “Oh my! A month! Do you want me to bring you some baking? Muffins? Casserole?”
Blaze said in Sarah’s voice, “No, no. I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. They told you about the grant, right?”
“Yeah, uh, the doctor who called me mentioned it,” Abigail said, her voice lower like she was embarrassed.
“The doctor went ahead and applied for it, and he said it went through. The money will be in your account tomorrow.”
“How did he know what bank account to send it to?” Abigail asked.
“The government knows these things, I guess.”
“Oh, okay. We don’t need the money, you know. Of course I would help you out anytime you needed it. You don’t need to pay me.”
“Oh, of course, Abigail, but I’m not paying you,” Sarah’s voice said as Sarah sat, tied up in the chair, watching. “It’s a state government grant. Otherwise, the grant would just expire if no one used it, and then it would be wasted.”
“Oh, well, if it was just going to waste—”
“Yeah, it would just be wasted. Well, I was just checking on Charlie and HowNow. I have a massage appointment now.”
“A massage? Sounds like they’re taking right good care of you.”
“Yeah, they are. Bye, for now, Abigail.”
“You take care, too, Sarah. And don’t you worry about a thing. I’ll take care of your farm like it’s my own. When you come back, everything will still be perfect, just like you left it.”
A button clicked, and the call ended.
Sarah’s chance to alert Abigail to her predicament was over, and she’d completely forgotten about it.
Blaze stood and walked back toward her slowly, too slowly, like he was enjoying looking at her tied up and wanted to prolong it for even a few seconds.
He bent his knees until he was eye-level in front of her, staring into her gaze with eyes of deeper blue in the glow from the computer and darkness outside the high window. “I’m going to untie you now.”
She couldn’t nod because her head was tied to the back of the chair, and she couldn’t say anything coherent because of the thick silken rope between her teeth and the knot on her tongue, so she just stared back at him.
Wow, he was handsome with his dark hair, blue eyes, hard cheekbones, and firm jawline.
Blaze leaned closer, his mouth just inches from hers, and reached around behind the chair and her head. His shoulder lowered as he yanked something back there, and the ropes around her head loosened and fell around her neck.
Sarah licked her lips, which felt like bubbles under her raw tongue. She sucked in as deep a breath as the rope corset would allow, which made the knots over her nipples grab them as they slid over.
He was still close to her, watching. “Do you want me to untie you?”
Sarah nodded, her neck feeling weak now that the ropes weren’t holding her head up.
“Are you sure?” he asked, almost whispering, he was so close to her.
“I think so,” she whispered back, a catch in her throat.
When she breathed, each rub of the knots felt good, so good, and yet the thin skin of her breasts was becoming sore from the constant stimulation. The knots sliding across her skin, catching on her squeezing nipples and then rolling back, felt almost like a bite, and another bite, and another.
“You don’t know if you want me to untie you?” he asked.
Sarah didn’t answer. Her body fluttered inside, her skin almost scalded, like she was on the verge of something.
