Both his strong arms were crushing her against his chest so tightly that she was sipping air, and it didn’t matter that her legs had gone a little wobbly because the toes of her boots were only lightly touching the floor.

His husky voice near her ear repeated, “Are you okay?”

“Um, I—um.” Her brain was not braining. “I’m—no problem. I think I’m no problem.”

That had not come out right.

His arms loosened, and his hand trailed over her waist as he positioned her body so that her bottom was pressed against the cool metal of the car door, and he could peer down at her with icy blue eyes that gave her a chill. “Did you knock your head this morning?”

“I—when?”

“When those assholes drew down on you in the kitchen.”

“Maybe?”

“Are you dizzy?”

Was that what was wrong with her? “I don’t know.”

“Let me check your head.”

His fingers slipped under her jawline and trailed up into her hair on the back of her head, a titillating tickle that felt like a massage cresting over her whole body. She closed her eyes.

His deep voice whispered, “I need to take out your braid.”

She nodded without looking at him.

One of his hands left her head, and then her hair all over her head relaxed.

His fingers resumed their massage behind her ears, over her temples, and stroking over the tight muscles around her skull.

She sighed at the release of the tension.

His thumbs stroked over her forehead and temples and into her hairline, soothing her until her tight muscles started turning to mush.

Her whole body was melting as she leaned against the side of his car. The faint tang of the car’s clean metal mixed with the warm spices of Blaze’s aftershave and the gentle whiff of soap from his skin.

Her skin blossomed under his touch, every smoothing swipe demanding her attention until her mind slowed, entranced by his touch.

His clothes rustled, and the cool fabric of his shirt sleeve brushed her cheek as his fingers threaded through her hair.

“I don’t feel any bumps,” he said, massaging her scalp.

Images drifted through her mind: Blaze lifting her chin and kissing her, his hands moving down her shoulders to her breasts, and his body pressing hers against the car.

Sarah must have been reading too much slashfic back home on the farm.

When she got back home, she should take Tiffany up on her offer to go to her church to meet someone nice and settle down.

Because Blaze stroking upward with his strong fingers along the tendons that ran up the back of her neck felt so good that she was drifting into the online stories she’d read, the ones where Jungkook was just about to kiss a woman, his dark eyes heavy-lidded and watching her mouth.

Blaze’s thumb lifted her chin as his strong hands caressed the back of her head and behind her ears.

The fuzzy romantic vibes buzzing in Sarah’s head warmed her cheeks.

She didn’t even mean to make a noise, but a really good massage can squeeze a sound out when the cramped muscles clenched around the rigid core of inhibition finally relax.

Sarah groaned, “Uhhh, that feels so good.”
