-Alison-
Jared didn’t subject me to degrading outfits or demand a meticulous house cleaning. After breakfast, he led me back to his room, where I noticed some of my belongings from my own home. He asked me to get dressed, and I exchanged the small robe I had on for proper attire. When I turned to Jared, he appeared lost in thought, but he gestured for me to follow him, so I obliged. Our steps led us to what resembled a small office, containing only two chairs, a desk, and some empty shelves.
Jared instructed me to sit down at the desk, and he took a seat opposite me. I gazed at him, puzzled, as he leaned forward with a slightly troubled expression.
“I need us to engage in a little roleplay,” he began.
“Need?” I echoed.
“Astrid has a knack for staying two steps ahead of me, and you used to possess a similar talent,” he explained.
“I was just a kid. I don’t think we’re that similar,” I countered.
“But you are, and my wedding is approaching. Once I’ve returned you home and taken care of some matters, I’ll be marrying Astrid. However, I don’t want to be caught off guard. She enjoys mind games, much like you once did, if not still.”
“So, what do you want me to do?”
“Well, obviously, I can’t employ your tricks with Warren for any useful purpose. I learned nothing from our last game.”
“That’s because you behaved as if it were our first meeting. I learned how to handle Warren later.”
“How?” he inquired. “Because the more I think about it, the less I believe you’re handling anything. You’re avoiding it, hoping the problem will vanish, but Astrid won’t disappear. The more I tell her ‘no’, the louder she hears ‘yes’. She revels in controlling men and revels even more in having them under her power. So, I need you to become Astrid.”
“I don’t want to play her!” I exclaimed. “She’s terrible.”
“Yes, and I’m about to marry her, so I need to be prepared.”
“Is this how you want to spend our last week?”
“Perhaps,” he replied.
“How is this tormenting me?”
“Well, you just said you don’t want to play her.”
“Do you genuinely think roleplaying your marriage is going to be effective?”
“I do, which is why, for this last week, you’re not merely playing Astrid. You and I are married.”
“We’re married?” I echoed in disbelief.
“Yes, and it won’t be confined to just one dinner, Alison. You’ll need to remain in character for the entire week.”
My mouth hung open, incredulous at this unexpected turn of events. He hadn’t mentioned Astrid at all the last time I was here, so this plan must have been a sudden decision.
“Can’t we just stick to your original plan?” I inquired.
“My original plan?”
“Yes, I’m sure you had a different week in mind.”
“I did. I had envisioned this entire month differently, but circumstances changed, and now I need you for more than just a quick fuck.”
I glared at him, resentful of being reduced to a mere plaything, but I understood that was precisely what I was to him—a toy. Yet, it didn’t make the sting any less painful. However, it also meant that when it came to this roleplaying, I had little choice.
“Fine,” I sighed. “I’ll be your wife again.”
“But you’ll also be Astrid.”
