I heard Alison move, and to my surprise, her hands reappeared in my field of vision, this time bearing whipped cream. She playfully sprayed it on the pancakes, crafting a small smiley face. I glanced up at her, and she offered me a small reassuring smile before adding a similar touch to her own pancakes. She continued to wait for me to begin eating.
“Come, eat,” I ordered, extending my hand to the side beside me.
She turned around, looking slightly taken aback.
“Are you sure?”
“Do I have to repeat myself?” I retorted, but she shook her head and came over to eat beside me.
Somehow, having her sit down beside me and watching her enjoy her meal seemed to awaken my own appetite. I soon eagerly delved into the food. Alison may not have been a gourmet chef, but she possessed a knack for crafting delicious pancakes. Their sweet flavors gradually helped with my appetite, and to my surprise, I found myself finishing both the pancakes, eggs, and bacon.
After our meal, Alison rose and fetched some water for both of us. We sat in silence, side by side, sipping our water. It was evident that we were both navigating through a peculiar transition, and I remained uncertain about how far I could push her without causing irreparable harm. Perhaps she was concealing her true feelings once again, masking her vulnerabilities. Maybe Alison still had the capacity to break, or perhaps she was already so shattered that there was nothing left to fracture.
At that moment, I couldn't discern her limits because, as we sat together, Alison had transformed in my eyes. The last time we were in this kitchen, I believed I knew her true nature. I thought she was nothing more than a dark monster by my side, one I needed to conquer, and I had devised the perfect strategy to do so. However, after all we had endured, I simply couldn't see her the same way anymore. No one could endure what we had and continue to regard each other with pure disgust. But what did that mean for us? Where did we go from here? Vince no longer believed that releasing her sooner mattered. We were already too deeply entwined.Shewas too deeply entwined.
Alison slowly shifted in her chair, turning toward me, and met my gaze with obvious uncertainty and confusion. Neither of us really knew how to play our roles anymore.
“So... now?” she whispered.
“Now?” I echoed.
“You said after we had eaten.”
I sighed, turning away from her. I had indeed said that, but did I want it? I realized I needed some time to think and got up from my chair.
“I’m going for a drive. Clean the place. It needs to be spotless by the time I come back. No one has been here for two weeks. It’s dusty!” I yelled before leaving the kitchen and going to my room to retrieve my helmet and the keys to my bike.
I descended the stairs again and entered the garage where my bike awaited. I hopped on and opened the garage door before riding out. I just needed some time alone. Hopefully, when I returned, my mind would be clearer, and I could step back into the role of her Master.
Chapter 35
-Alison-
I complied with Jared's command, tidying up the kitchen before grabbing a cloth to start dusting around the house. I was aware that I probably wouldn't be able to finish the entire house before his return, which would likely result in a punishment. Strangely, I found myself almost welcoming the idea of punishment. Anything to feel something different, anything to divert my thoughts from the events of yesterday. Although cleaning provided me with a task, it also offered too much time for my mind to dwell on painful memories, far from being a blessing.
As I reached the room designed like a tiny bar, I began to feel shaky once again. I couldn't stop replaying last night in my mind, and it was pushing me to the edge. So, as I gazed at the expensive alcohol displayed behind the bar, an idea took shape. I knew I wouldn't be able to sit comfortably for the remainingweek, but I was desperate for Jared to ease the sharp pain in my heart. I just wanted to forget.
I discarded the cloth, went behind the bar, and grabbed as many bottles as I could carry. Then, I proceeded to the entrance of the house, smashing the first two bottles there, creating a mess of alcohol and shattered glass on the floor. I left a trail leading back to the tiny bar, smashing the last bottle in front of the room before grabbing more bottles and repeating the process, leaving the entire floor wet and sticky.
A smile crept onto my face, and I felt a little better. However, I soon realized that I had trapped myself in the room with glass shards scattered across the floor, and I wasn’t even wearing shoes. I shook my head, but instead of letting frustration consume me, I tiptoed carefully to the bar, grabbed a bottle that had survived my destruction, and poured myself a glass. I sat down, waiting for Jared to return home.
I knew I would be in deep trouble, but the thought didn’t frighten me. Instead, it only made me smile, like a villain reveling in their wicked deeds. I sipped my drink slowly, not particularly enjoying the burning sensation, but I didn’t sit there for long. I had already spent a considerable amount of time dusting before starting my little project, and soon I heard a booming voice echoing through the house, “ALISON!”
My smile widened, and I remained in my seat, anticipating Jared’s approach. I could hear his footsteps drawing nearer, and the unmistakable sound of shoes against the floor confirmed that he hadn't taken them off after his drive. The footfalls grew louder, and I pivoted in my chair, just in time to see an enraged Jared standing in the doorway. He surveyed the damage: the shattered glass and wasted alcohol worth hundreds of dollars. Then, he slowly turned his intense gaze to me.
“What have you done? Didn’t I give you an order to clean this place, not fucking destroy it?” he snarled.
“Hmm, I think it looks better this way,” I taunted, taking another sip of my drink, feeling like the antagonist in a movie.
“Oh, really?”
“Yes.”
“Come here!” he demanded.
“I can’t. There’s glass on the floor, and I’m barefoot,” I informed him, lifting my feet to display them and wiggling my toes mockingly.
“You’re in big trouble, slave,” he growled as he stormed over to me. “If you think I’ll go easy on you, you’re wrong, and you’re going to lick every drop off this floor.”
