I could see she was on the verge of cursing at me again, and I put my hands in my pockets, implying that she could go ahead but that it would have consequences. In the end, she held her tongue, showing she wasn’t going to try to taunt me anymore. Iwalked closer to her, and she gazed up at me with anger burning in her eyes. I leaned in close to her ear, feeling her tense against me as she didn’t want me so close.
“Good girl,” I whispered before giving her a playful smack on the ass as I walked past her.
Chapter 10
-Alison-
We arrived at the party, just us girls, and as we parked in front of the roaring bonfire, a swarm of people rushed to welcome us. They eagerly offered drinks and ushered us closer to the heart of the festivities. It was abundantly clear that we were well-known here, particularly me, and everyone sought to curry favor with me. This party presented the perfect opportunity for them to attempt to charm me, although if they believed they could gain any advantage, they were grievously mistaken.
Positioned by the crackling fire, Kyle and his companions approached us. He draped an arm casually over my shoulders, staking his claim, and shared hearty laughter with his buddies, who were indulging in their beers. However, the joviality was soon interrupted as one of them pointed toward something in the distance. I turned my head, my curiosity piqued, and was greeted by a most unexpected spectacle. Amidst the toweringfootball players, Jared appeared to be tossed about like a plaything.
As raucous laughter erupted from the guys and my girlfriends enthusiastically joined in, some of them even retrieving their phones to capture the entire spectacle, I couldn't contain my exasperation any longer. In an impulsive act, I seized Simone's phone and flung it forcefully to the ground. The clatter of the device hitting the earth reverberated through the crowd, and Simone turned to me, her features etched with astonishment.
“Hey, what was that for?” she asked, and I turned to the group, giving them a stern look.
“Why is he here?” I snapped.
“We drove to his house and picked him up. His drunk father was so passed out he didn’t even see us sneak in or hear us kidnapping his son,” Kyle laughed.
“You kidnapped him from his house?” I asked, completely mortified.
“So what?”
I squeezed the air in front of me, wanting to wrap my hands around all their throats, and I could see they realized they had messed up tonight.
“Doggy ismine,” I snarled at them. “Whatever is done to him goes through me first.”
They all lost their smiles as I brought out the fierce side of me, the one that changed my voice and made everyone’s blood run cold. I stepped closer to Kyle, staring him down, though he was a head taller than me.
“If you ever try to mess around with him like that again, I will dump your ass and make sure my father bankrupts your family.”
“Jesus, Ali, why do you care?” Simone asked, picking up her phone from the ground. “Why don’t you just use this as an opportunity to do whatever you want with him?”
“Why? Are you truly that dense?” I growled, turning to her, and she gasped at my outburst. “But maybe you are. Maybe the drugs have finally taken your intelligence. So let me explain, so even a dimwit like yourself can understand. What I do to doggy is carefully and perfectly planned so that in the end, none of us will face the consequences of our actions. Literally kidnapping a person from their home is a crime, and this could actually go on our records and ruin our future chances. Do you imbeciles understand?”
They all looked at the ground, nodding their heads as they realized how badly they had messed up tonight. Jared might not run to the teachers anymore because he knew it wouldn’t work, but there were surveillance cameras on every street. If he went to the police, they could find solid proof of these idiots’ screw-up, and then everything that had ever been done to Jared would come to light and bring us all down.
“If any of you ever step out of line again, I will personally ensure you get expelled from school and lose all chances of even going to college. Have I made myself clear?” I growled at them.
They all nodded like obedient soldiers, and I spun around, my hair slapping against Kyle’s face as I stormed over to the game still in progress further out. The guys saw me coming and sensed the storm brewing in my mood. As one of them tossed Jared again, the others stepped back, wary of the approaching angry woman. Jared landed on the ground, groaning in pain, but with a single glare, I made those burly guys shrink back and take a few cautious steps away from him.
I stood before Jared, fixing a menacing gaze on the dimwits behind him who had brains made of dirt. I ensured they saw the threat in my eyes, conveying that they should never takeany action without my permission again before turning my attention back to Jared. He didn’t dare look up at me, and I noticed he had a busted lip.
“Who the fuck hit him?” I demanded, but they exchanged uncertain glances, as if none of them knew the answer. “Answer me!”
“No one, Alison. We just tossed him around,” one of them finally responded.
I turned my attention to Jared, grabbing him by the hair and tilting his head back so he could meet my eyes through the bangs, catching a rare glimpse of his deep green eyes.
“Who hit you?” I asked, unwilling to believe those buffoons behind him.
He remained silent, so I tightened my grip on his hair, twisting it in my hand.
“Who?”
He groaned but remained silent. I sighed and let go of him. He reached behind to support himself with a hand.
“Get up, doggy,” I ordered.
