“I told you, I’m not interested.”

I attempted to walk away, but she held onto me, turning me to face her and then locking her lips with mine. For a moment, I got lost in that kiss. It was warm and everything opposite to how Astrid touched me. I wrapped an arm around Alison’s waist, pulling her close, and our lips started a passionate kiss. Until I snapped out of it, remembering the game we were playing. I stepped back, seeing Alison blinking rapidly, appearing stunned.

“That’s all you get,” I declared before lifting my hand to swipe her lower lip with my thumb.

I moved away from her, taking a few steps, but I noticed she wasn’t following. I turned toward her, seeing her still gazing at me with a bewildered expression.

“Astrid wouldn’t give up so easily,” I reminded her.

“No, you’re right. Keep going,” Alison replied, seeming somewhat disoriented. I continued walking away, and I could hear her footsteps trailing behind me.

I entered the kitchen, realizing I might be hungry after a “long day”. However, as I stepped into the kitchen, I did indeed feel a pang of hunger. We had been at it for several hours now. I took a seat at the kitchen island, turning my chair to face Alison as she entered. She paused for a moment.

“Can Astrid cook?” she pondered aloud, recognizing that there were aspects of Astrid we couldn’t fully anticipate due to our limited knowledge.

“Or maybe I should ask, why should she cook for you?” Alison questioned, crossing her arms. “This isn’t the 1950s.”

“No, but I’ve had a long day, and you’ve been home all day.”

“I’m sure I’ll be staying busy with all the babies we’re going to have,” she mockingly remarked. Her words made me smile for a moment, but then I remembered that it wasn’t Alison who would be having any babies. Why did I even entertain that notion for a moment? I quickly dismissed the thought and stood up from my seat.

“I suppose we can’t truly roleplay this scenario if we don’t know whether she can cook,” I stated as I began searching for food in the fridge. I could hear Alison moving closer.

“No, and I think once you marry her, perhaps you shouldn’t let her cook for you.”

Alison slipped around me, brushing against me as she took her place beside me at the stove. She grabbed some bread and placed it in the toaster while I started frying bacon for sandwiches.

“Why not?” I inquired.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries to drug you just to tie you up in her sex dungeon and use you all night,” she remarked. “And with Viagra, I doubt you’ll have much say in what’s standing up.”

I groaned in frustration, running my hand through my hair. Alison had a valid point. At the last dinner we attended with Astrid's family, drugs were even present. It became apparent that drugs would play a more significant role in my life than ever before. Her family specialized in this illicit trade, ranking among the largest suppliers. It wouldn't astonish me if Astrid intended to slip me something.

The toasts popped out of the toaster, and Alison found some plates, effortlessly maneuvering around me as we prepared lunch together. It wasn’t until we had finished making sandwiches that I realized I hadn’t even ordered her to cook. I had become too immersed in our game. When she held up one of the sandwiches, I continued to stare at it.

“What’s wrong? I didn’t poison it,” she assured me. “You saw how it was made.”

“No, I know,” I replied, slowly taking the plate. My gaze remained fixed on Alison.

She hadn’t seemed to realize that we had prepared the meal together. She awaited my permission to eat, as was her role, but I couldn’t help but keep studying her.

“Is something bothering you?” she inquired.

“I just don’t think Astrid and I will ever cook together,” I responded, deflecting my actual concern.

“You never know. Maybe once you settle down and start understanding each other, things could change. Perhaps this marriage could turn out to be a good one.”

I shook my head, leaning against the kitchen island and placing the plate down. “Honestly, I think you’re right about meneeding to be cautious. There’s a good chance she might drug me and tie me up just to have her way with me and get pregnant.”

Alison slowly looked down, finding it disturbingly easy to envision. There was something undeniably sinister about Astrid. I had once believed Alison possessed a similar quality, but now I saw something else. I saw a resemblance between us that was more striking than between her and Astrid. I didn’t want us to share any qualities, but it was difficult to deny the truth after what she had revealed.

“Perhaps you should just get her pregnant quickly. Problem solved,” she suggested.

“While I’d love for it to be that simple, it’s not, and we both know it.”

Alison nodded, letting out a deep sigh before turning toward me and mirroring my posture.

“Do you think this week will be enough for practice?” she asked.
